World's smallest claim for Bluetooth
antenna
Furukawa is set to unveil the world's smallest Bluetooth chip antenna this week at Electronica.
Furukawa is set to unveil the world's smallest Bluetooth chip antenna this week at Electronica The antenna will be on display, for the first time anywhere in the world, at the Furukawa stand (Hall C 2, stand 247) where its range of products will also include the Fitel full suite of MT connectors, a new heatsink product and TEX-E, which opens a new era of switching transformers

Splicers claim faster and easier operation
Furukawa Electric Europe is claiming a world-leading breakthrough in the speed and ease of use of optical-fibre splicing technology, to be unveiled at next month's ECOC show in Amsterdam.
"World's smallest" claim for fusion splicer
Furukawa Electric claims to have developed the world's most compact and easy to use optical fibre fusion splicer.
"Electronica is a world-renowned exhibition and was a natural choice for Furukawa to unveil its breakthrough in Bluebooth technology", said Furukawa Sales Executive Ben Wiseman.
"The new antenna is not only the world's smallest but offers high bandwidth and great performance.
We expect considerable interest, both at the show and beyond".
Furukawa has launched two types of antenna, one with a 2.4GHz band and one with a 900MHz band.
The 2.4GHz chip antenna is just 8.8 x 2.9 x 0.7mm in size, wide in bandwidth (over 200MHz for the required bandwidth of 80MHz) and high in gain.
This is made possible through the use of Furukawa's two-dimensional radiation circuit.
Using the circuit, the antenna produces a nondirectional radiation pattern that is optimal for mobile communications.
The 900MHz chip antenna employs a three-dimensional radiation circuit to provide performance equivalent to that of a whip antenna.
Like the 2.4GHz model, this chip antenna is the industry's smallest in size (17.4 x 4.8 x 1.5mm) and significantly increases flexibility in mounting and design.
Furukawa's MT connectors on show are the full suite of Fitel connector products for all optical connection requirements, including MPO, Lightray, MPX, single fibre, MT ferrules and Mini MT.
The heatsink range includes crimped fin for active and passive for use with desktop and server products.
The TEX-E on display has won Furukawa more than 1100 customers around the world.
Its triple-insulated wire means that no interlayer insulation tape or barrier tape is required - leading to smaller transformers, higher efficiency and cost savings.
The TEX-E is widely used in transformers used in Information and Telecommunications equipment, games, consumer goods and other devices.
Additionally, Furukawa will be showing a range of signal, power and fibre options for the automotive industry, UV tape for semiconductor processing, planar coils and a polyamide tube, which can operate at up to 400C.
