Customers designing in microprocessors and system interconnect chips for high-speed communication systems will benefit from the design synergies between Tundra System Interconnect chips and existing products sold by Future Electronics.
The agreement, which follows months of research by Tundra to find the right distributor, will take immediate effect with Future's technical solutions managers advising engineers in high speed design development with Tundra system interconnect chips.
"The acquisition of the Tundra franchise represents a wonderful opportunity for Future", said Graeme McGrory, Vice President Managing Director Europe of Future Electronics.
He continued, "It builds on and complements our strengths as a technical distributor of Motorola Corporation's 32bit processor offerings (in particular the PowerPC range).
This partnership gives us access to a wide range of high bandwidth products such as RapidIO and PCI systems.
These areas are growth areas at the leading edge of the high speed market".
The decision by Tundra to partner with Future Electronics was based on Future's pan-European strength, technical resources, and high levels of market penetration due to the Motorola franchise.
"Tundra recognises the regional power of a distributor such as Future Electronics", said Jim Roche, President and CEO of Tundra.
"It makes strategic business sense to leverage the Tundra and Motorola product compatibility through a distribution relationship with Future Electronics.
In addition to this we are confident that Future's resources of highly skilled technical staff will assist design development".
Stephen Turnbull, European Operations Manager of Motorola Corporation added, "Our relationship with Tundra allows for product alignment that enables the marketplace with bridging/switching solutions that complement Motorola's integrated processors offerings.
With this agreement our relationship will be extended into the sales channel with customers able to easily source both required products from one vendor".
