Second generation Ethernet over Sonet/SDH framers are targeted at carrier grade packet transport networks enabling advanced Ethernet services to businesses and residential triple-play services.

Galazar Networks has expanded portfolio of multiservice transport solutions with the introduction of the MSF2500 and DSF2500 products These second generation Ethernet over Sonet/SDH (EoS) framer products are targeted at carrier grade packet transport networks enabling advanced Ethernet services to businesses and residential triple-play services

Carriers around the world have recognised the benefits of providing all of their telecomms and datacomms services over a single converged IP/MPLS packet network and are implementing their migration strategies.

New technology such as GFP, VCAT and LCAS enables today's Sonet/SDH networks to remain the premiere choice for reliable data packet transport in carrier networks.

Galazar and its OEM/ODM customers are now delivering the essential technology and products to make this transition possible.

"The proliferation of Ethernet interfaces on today's networking equipment has created the need for efficient transport and connectivity of Ethernet across the WAN", said Richard Deboer, CEO, Galazar Networks.

"Galazar's Ethernet over Sonet/SDH products, deployed by our customers in over 15 carrier networks worldwide, solve this problem by providing optimised Ethernet connectivity between the routers, IP DSLAMs, voice over IP platforms (VoIP) and wireless basestations central to the delivery of residential triple-play, advanced Ethernet services for business and content-rich wireless applications".

The unique combination of Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and generic packet (SPI-3) client interfaces make the DSF2500 a 2.5Gbit/s mapper platform of choice, capable of supporting a variety of system architectures, line card options and applications.

The SPI-3 interface can be used to attach sophisticated L2/L3 packet processing devices to perform advanced functions such as Pseudowire, VLAN tagging, MPLS encapsulation or to support transparent processing such as GFP-T mapping of storage area networking protocols.

Simultaneous operation of all interfaces allows a single design team to produce multiple products, each using any combination of client ports and mapping capabilities, greatly reducing the engineering and verification effort.

The MSF2500 contains all of the functions and flexibility of the DSF2500 and adds on-chip mapping of DS1/E1 and DS3/E3 PDH signals and a Sonet/SDH telecomms bus expansion interface for the addition of optical tributaries or additional mapping functions.

Building on Galazar's reputation of delivering more than just devices with rudimentary software, the company's colocated team of experienced IC, hardware, software and system designers work together to define, develop, verify and support these solutions as end-to-end systems to minimise customer time to market.

Through proprietary tools and processes Galazar is able to provide extensive software, documentation, trouble shooting tools, reference platforms and application design information to customers prior to silicon availability and into production deployments.

Galazar offers comprehensive device management software, including advanced capabilities such warm start, interrupt management and a wide variety of troubleshooting tools that are field proven by our customers' deployments.

The MSF2500, DSF2500 and software are now available to customers.
