Laboratories support SMPTE conformity testing
New video and broadcast applications engineering labs have been opened by Gennum, allowing its customers to test and debug standard and high definition based systems.
The GS1535 automatic reclocker recovers the clock and data signals from HD-SDI and SD-SDI signals, removing high-frequency jitter components from the serial input stream.
Datarates of 143, 177, 270, 360, 540, 1483.5 and 1485Mbit/s are automatically detected and retimed.
The GS1535 fully supports DVB-ASI at 270 Mbit/s.
The GS1535 also offers several ease-of-use features, such as internal VCOs that enable a compact design, a four-channel input multiplexer for system design flexibility, and a choice of automatic or manual rate selection modes.
An HD/SD indication output controlling the downstream GS1528 cable driver output slew rate simplifies system design for strict SMPTE compliance.
The GS1535 operates from a single 3.3V power supply, and will initially be offered in a 64-pin plastic QFP.
Gennum is previewing the capabilities of the GS1535, together with the GS1524 and GS1528 in a live demonstration at the 2001 IBC exhibition, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 14th to 18th September 2001.
