The dual slot V7769, which provides dual SAS (Serial-Attached SCSI) connectors on the front panel, can optionally be configured with an on-board 2.5" SATA hard drive.
It features three PCI-X PMC slots, allowing for maximum user-defined connectivity.
The single slot V7768 can also be expanded via the PMC237 mezzanine board to provide legacy PMC functionality.
"Increasingly, today's cutting-edge defence applications see the requirement to interface with a broad range of real world external devices, as well as often being only one system within a 'system of systems'", said Richard Kirk, Product Manager at GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms.
"The V7768 and V7769 provide system designers with the flexibility to cost-effectively accommodate extensive and varied I/O functionality, while delivering outstanding processing performance".
The V7768 and V7769 are the first products from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms to use the power of Intel's dual core architecture in conjunction with the Universe II PCI-to-VME bridge from Tundra Semiconductor.
This provides an easy, software-compatible upgrade path for existing users of the VME64-based V7750, V7751, V7805 and V7851, as well as a range of solutions that offer significant choice in terms of price/performance.
Up to 4Mbyte of Level 2 cache and up to 2Gbyte of DDR2 SDRAM are provided by each board, as are two Gigabit Ethernet ports via the front panel.
Two SATA ports, two serial ports, four USB 2.0 ports and PS/2 mouse/keyboard ports are also standard.
Operating system support is provided for Windows XP, Windows Vista, VxWorks and Linux.
