The eF306 is an ultra-compact quad-output 300W power supply claimed to redefine power density by packing 10W/in3 into a 1U high chassis.

The eF306 is an all-new design employing the latest advances in topology and components.

The use of synchronous rectification offers class leading efficiencies up to 85% while extensive use of surface-mount components ensures very compact dimensions of just 35.5 x 98 x 173mm.

All heat-generating components are placed directly on the U-channel chassis for best possible thermal performance.

The end result is a power supply offering three to four times more power density than equivalent commercially available products.

Another benefit of a completely new design is that all the latest worldwide regulations can be met from day one with no compromises.

The eF306 features active power factor correction - typically 0.98 for full load at both 110 and 230V AC input - to comply with IEC100-3-2 for harmonic distortion, and has an input filter that ensures conducted EMC emissions meet EN55022-B and CISPR22B requirements.

Worldwide safety approvals are in place for EN6950, UL and CSA, and the unit is CE marked.

The power supply has a wide range universal input that operates from 85-264V AC over the frequency range 47-63Hz.

Input/output isolation is 3000V AC and the operating temperature range is -5 to +50C.

For full output power, 15ft3/min of forced air cooling is required.

Standard protection features include overcurrent, overvoltage and short-circuit protection.

For system integrators there is a remote on/off input and power good output.

Connections are via Molex connectors for input, control signals and auxiliary outputs, whereas main outputs have 10-32 studs.

Standard output voltages are available over the range 1.5-12V DC, with up to 40A available from each of the two main outputs, which may be used in "current share" mode.

There is also a "standby" auxiliary output rated at +5V, 20mA for host system functions.

The eF306 continues the Gresham "flexibility" design philosophy, and customer specific voltages can be made available at low quantities and with nominal additional engineering costs.

The 1U chassis height and compact dimensions make the eF306 suitable for applications such as telecomms, data networking, industrial computers, instrumentation, industrial control and process automation.

Jake Moir, MD of Gresham comments: "Having such a truly unique product gives us and our European distribution network an exciting opportunity to capitalise on the new product development work being carried out even during these difficult times.

The extremely small size of this product will allow end users to free up more space for functional circuitry and make their own systems better value for money".
