Powerful European role for Owen

Salisbury based power conversion specialist Gresham Power Electronics has appointed Gareth Owen to the position of European Technical and Sales Manager for its power supply business.

Salisbury based power conversion specialist Gresham Power Electronics has appointed Gareth Owen to the position of European Technical and Sales Manager for its power supply business.

This strategic appointment puts in place a focus for all the direct, OEM and distribution business in Europe for all three group companies - Telkoor, Digital Power and Gresham.

Melanie O'Connor, General Manager for Power Products at Gresham, adds: "Gareth will spend most of his time travelling in Europe carrying out product training with our Distributors, assisting them with design projects and supporting our OEM customers".

This is a new function at Gresham that recognises the need to spend time face to face with both distributors and customers.

Commenting on this appointment, Gresham MD Jake Moir says: "So much information is now available to our customers from an ever increasing range of sources that it actually seems to be getting harder to find the most appropriate solution to any need.

We feel we should get back to basics and spend time with all of our customers to not only understand their immediate needs but to ensure any Gresham solution can add value to their whole product strategy".

Gresham is able to supply standard products from their very wide range of Compact PCI, high-power-density open-frame switchers, DC/DC convertors and telecomms inverters.

Having a direct presence in Europe will not only increase awareness of these standard products but more importantly enable Gresham to develop their "off the shelf custom" power supply philosophy.

Owen brings a wealth of experience of the power conversion industry having spent over 12 years with Sanken Power Systems, where he was Technical Applications and Power Supply Design Divisional Manager.

During this time he spent 2.5 years in Japan seeing best practice design and manufacturing in operation and also becoming fluent in Japanese.

He numbers scuba diving among his hobbies, but doesn't expect to find much time to indulge in this during his first, busy months at Gresham.
