Inverter expands into new applications
The Quasar inverter has a wide variety of uses over and above supplying high quality AC power from a DC source.
Deploying the new StrongBox platform saves "real-estate", allowing increased end system functionality and improving price/performance ratio.
In addition to the new 1200W power cassette, 600 and 800W models are available, allowing a single 1U, 19in rack shelf to provide 1800, 2400 or 3600W of power from a single unit.
StrongBox systems may be connected in parallel to provide higher power systems and communicate via the I2C active databus.

Convertors feature tight load regulation
New DC/DC convertors suit a wide variety of board level power applications requiring 3W of regulated output power, input/output isolation, miniature package size and low component cost.
Modules may be configured for hot-swap or N+1 power redundancy and optional external battery backup provides a full no-break power solution.
StrongBox power cassettes are available with active power factor corrected universal AC or 12, 24 or 48V DC input and are self cooling front-to-back, allowing maximum system density.
The system is ETSI standard compatible and meets EN55022 class B and FCC 68 part 15.
The operating temperature range is 0 to +50C with no derating, and all modules are overload, short circuit, overtemperature and overvoltage protected.
Each StrongBox hub can hold up to three modular power convertors from a range of over 20 different configurations.
The AC input modules offer standard single output voltages of 48, 24 or 12V DC.
Other AC input models are available for rectifier/battery charging use or battery backup operation and microwave transmitters.
Two other AC input modules provide multiple outputs of either dual 5V DC or for telecomms applications triple outputs of 3.3, 5 and 12V DC.
Melanie O'Connor, General Sales Manager of Gresham comments: "Our new 1200W power cassette gives us a clear market lead and adds to the high power density and flexibility of our StrongBox power shelf".
"Strongbox can save space in equipment rooms, giving our customers significant cost benefits".
StrongBox is part of Gresham Power's family of "flexibility" products, designed to enable rapid modification to customer-specific applications and further extends their "off the shelf custom" philosophy.
On-site application engineering is also available worldwide for pre- and post-engineering support to assist customers with product definition, product integration, testing and design verification.
Strongbox is available worldwide from Gresham and its sister companies, Digital Power in the USA and Telkoor in Israel, and via global network of distributors.
