Inverter expands into new applications
The Quasar inverter has a wide variety of uses over and above supplying high quality AC power from a DC source.
Inverter nears the end of the road
Gresham Power is about to commence the last production run of its highly successful Quasar family of DC/AC inverters for telecomms applications.
Extra-high power density allows up to 40A to be drawn from the +3.3V DC output and 30A from the +5V DC output at 55C.
Two input options are available, universal AC (90-264V AC) at up to 440Hz with active power factor correction and 48V DC.
The two main outputs feature remote sense and all units include ORing diodes allowing single wire current sharing for increasing output power or n+1 redundant operation.
The power supply has control signals for over-temperature, over voltage and over current protection as well as power-good and inhibit for systems integration.
Input good, power fail and over temperature front panel LED indicators are also fitted.
Full international safety agency approvals, UL, cUL and CE have been attained.
Very high efficiency and power density are achieved by employing independent parallel convertor topology and state of the art synchronous rectification, low profile magnetics and a high degree of surface mount assembly.
The 24V DC input version is qualified to UL1604 for operation in harsh and hazardous industrial environments.
For military COTS and extreme industrial applications all models may be ruggedised and conformal coated with extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85C.
The new power supplies are industry standard sise, 3U x 8HP, and have the customary +5, +3.3 and +/-12V DC outputs.
Continuing Gresham Power's "flexibility" design philosophy nonstandard outputs are available to special order with no NRE costs for OEM quantities.
Melanie O'Connor, General Sales Manager of Gresham comments: "Our CompactPCI products have been very successful in both standard and custom markets".
"We have found a growing requirement for more power in the 3U market as end users increase their system demands but are unwilling to move to the 6U form-factor".
"Our new 300W, 3U CompactPCI product give sour customers what they need and puts us ahead of the market".
Typical applications for the new Gresham 300W cPCI products include embedded computing, industrial systems, process control, security, telecomms etc.
