Gigatronix has a new range of reverse-polarity (RP) coaxial connectors and now offers connectors in several series, including BNC, TNC, N Type and SMA in nickel- and gold-plated finishes Within each series of connectors, plugs, jacks and bulkhead jacks are available for the popular RG cables including RG58, RG223, RG400, RG174, RG316 as well as low loss cables such as LMR100, LMR195 and LMR400 (and their equivalents)

Connectors complement low-loss cables
Gigatronix has an extensive range of connectors to address the majority of coaxial cables now being incorporated into wireless system designs.
Customer specific connectors are also available, with reasonable minimum order quantities and short lead times.
"The use of reverse polarity (RP) coaxial connectors has increased in recent years, primarily for spread spectrum wireless applications where Part 15.203 of US FCC regulations specify that a wireless device with a removable antenna requires a nonstandard mating interface", comments Darren White, Gigatronix Business Development Manager.
"Although reverse polarity (RP) connectors maintain the same mechanical, electrical and performance characteristics as standard interface connectors, they differ in that the centre contact is reversed".
"For example, a plug (normally male) connector in a reverse polarity (RP) style uses a female centre contact rather than a pin and a jack (normally female) connector in a reverse polarity style uses a male pin rather than a female contact".
"Because reverse polarity connectors will not mate with standard interface parts equipment damage can be prevented by ensuring no accidental or incorrect connections".
The new RP range of reverse-polarity connectors has been incorporated into the Gigatronix online cable assembly design software.
Prices, drawings, technical data and the option to purchase online are all available from the "Build your own cable assembly online" section of the company's website.
