High-voltage relays drop in to reduce costs
Two new high-voltage relays that easily replace another vendor's previously sole source relays.
Gigavac has released two new high-voltage relays that easily replace another vendor's previously sole source relays.
Gigavac's new G20 is a sealed single pole, single throw normally open (SPST-NO) 28kV, 110A vacuum relay.
Gigavac's new G22 is almost identical to its G20 but rated 25kV, 65A, and has tungsten contacts for hot switching lower current loads.
This relay type is generally used in wafer fabrication equipment, aerospace radar and ECM, and airport lighting systems.
Because the G20 and G22 are sealed in a vacuum (like many other Gigavac relays), they are impervious to external contamination and offer years of failure free operation.
The G20 and the G22 are each 96mm tall and 38mm wide.
Both come with screw terminals for easy connections as well as through panel mounting that keeps the high voltage and control circuits far apart - to eliminate crosstalk and any chance of high voltage shorts to the coil circuit.
"Another vendor's brand KC-20 and KC-22 relays have been the sole source of these specialised items for years", said Jim Lanum, Gigavac's VP Sales.
"Their relays currently sell through distribution in 10 piece quantities for approximately $994 and $1194 each, respectively".
"Earlier, we introduced our G50 and G9 relays at 52% and 33% of those prices respectively, and they are used for most new applications".
"However, customers that have form-fit issues cannot change relays; and they asked our engineers to save them money by developing lower cost alternatives to the sole source vendor".
"We are pleased that our new G20 and G22 relays sell in 10 piece quantities for only $597 each, plus shipping and handling, which is 40% less than the other previously sole source vendor".
The new G20 and G22 coil voltages are 12, 26.5 or 115V DC or customised; plus have Gigavac's exclusive changeable coil feature that allows users to change the coil even after the relay has been installed.
Most popular models are in stock with special orders available within four weeks.
