Ratford lends industry experience

Semiconductor IP veteran Vin Ratford has assumed the role of President of Giga Scale IC.

Semiconductor intellectual property (IP) veteran Vin Ratford has assumed the role of President of Giga Scale IC.

The company is the developer of the recently announced Time Architect, a new class of electronic design automation software based on a virtual silicon model of an IC.

This model can be used across the semiconductor supply chain to make tradeoffs and decisions that simultaneously impact technical specifications and financial performance.

Ratford reports to J George Janac, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, who notes: "Vin has the perfect balance of industry experience we need to round out the executive team.

His extensive network of contacts paired with his knowledge and insight of the EDA, IP and foundry businesses is unmatched in the industry".

Recently, Ratford served as president of Deeptech Consulting Group.

He is currently a member of the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), chairing its IP Educational Working Group, and Virtual Socket Initiative Alliance (VSIA), and is Chair of its Hard IP subworking group.

Ratford serves on the Board of Directors of AccelChip, Elliptic Semiconductor and Entertainment Catalyst Studios.

Formerly, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Virage Logic Corp, a leading provider of best-in-class semiconductor IP platforms.

Prior to joining Virage Logic, he held management positions at Mentor Graphics Corp and Teradyne.

Ratford holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.
