Global Sources recently marked its 35th anniversary by opening its new 9000 square metre China headquarters based in Shenzhen.

On 5 November 2005, Global Sources marked its 35th anniversary with the opening of its new 9000 square metre China headquarters in the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce Tower in Shenzhen's new central business district.

The new office is strategically located in the heart of China's most dynamic export hub - the Greater Pearl River Delta - which accounts for 32% of China's exports.

The area affords easy access to export manufacturers, product designers, finance, export logistics, shipping and trade show facilities in Shenzhen, across southern China and Hong Kong.

The facility is the backbone of Global Sources mainland China operations, supporting more than 1300 team members in 44 China locations.

It includes a first-ever 'Buyer's Lounge' for overseas buyers to use as their sourcing centre, meet with suppliers, check e-mail and enjoy a cup of coffee while on buying trips.

Merle Hinrichs, Global Sources Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, hosted the opening ceremony.

"Today's opening marks our 35th anniversary of promoting export trade from Asia to buyers worldwide".

"Our new offices are a substantial investment and underscore our ongoing, 25-year commitment to China".

"We will continue to connect China suppliers with global buyers through what is by far the most robust offering available of sourcing information in print, online, trade shows and research media".

Participants at the opening ceremony included Wang Hui, Deputy Director-general, Economic Affairs Department, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Zhang Litong, Governor of the People's Government of Futian District, Shenzhen; Global Sources Board of Directors; customers; team members and media.
