Study reveals engineers use 0.18um in ASIC design
A research study now available from Global Sources shows that 73% of mainland China and Taiwan engineers are using 0.18um or finer process technology in ASIC design.
These findings are based on in-depth manufacturer interviews, factory visits and surveys.
Report Publisher, Mark Saunderson, said: "Greater China's home theatre system industry is expanding, with 81 percent of surveyed manufacturers expecting exports to increase this year".
"In preparation, 85 percent plan to upgrade production capacity".
Among surveyed makers: 24 percent plan to increase capacity by 50 percent or more; 21 percent plan increases of between 20 and 50 percent; 40 percent expect increases of less than 20 percent; and 15 percent expect to leave production capacity unchanged.
Saunderson said: "Producers have been hit with rising costs of raw materials and complying with the European Union Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive".
"However, 67 percent plan to hold or lower quotes to grow sales and market share".
Among those surveyed: 38 percent expect prices to remain steady in the next 12 months; 33 percent say they expect price increases; and 29 percent expect a decrease in prices.
