Top semiconductor companies including Intel, AMD, Wind River and Atmel will display their latest technologies at Global Sources' Sixth Annual Embedded Systems Conference-Taiwan.

Top semiconductor companies including Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, Wind River and Atmel will display their latest technologies at Global Sources' Sixth Annual Embedded Systems Conference-Taiwan (ESC-Taiwan) ESC-Taiwan will be held on 17th and 18th August 2006 at the Taipei International Convention centre along with the 14th Annual Electronic Design Automation and Test-Taiwan Conference and Exhibition (EDA and T-Taiwan)

Mark Saunderson, President of Global Sources' Electronics Business Unit, said: "Taiwan's semiconductor industry is expected to generate more than US $39 billion in revenue this year".

"With the local IC fabless sector growing 13% year-on-year to US $9.8 billion, it is Asia-Pacific's most important IC design industry.

ESC-Taiwan and EDAandT-Taiwan provide Taiwan's IC and system designers hands-on experience with the latest technologies from the industry's key innovators".

"These events enable leading embedded systems suppliers and EDA tool providers to meet Taiwan's design communities under one roof".

Other companies who have committed to participating at ESC-Taiwan and EDA and T-Taiwan this year include Agilent Technologies, Altera, Ansoft, Avant, Cadence, Cirrus Logic, Magma, Renesas, Spansion, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, United Microelectronics Corporation and Zuken.

An enhanced conference programme aims to give Taiwan designers the unique opportunity to learn new technologies direct from some of the world's largest embedded and EDA technology vendors.

The keynote address will be given by Dr Fu-Chieh Hsu, Vice President of TSMC's Design and Technology Platform.

Dr Hsu will discuss how advances in circuit and process modelling technologies can improve the bottom line.

Leading technology providers will address challenges faced today by Taiwan's IC and system designers at the events' technical seminars.

ESC-Taiwan seminars will be hosted by embedded systems providers including Agilent Technologies, Atmel, CoWare, National Instruments, Renesas Technology, Spansion and TeraSoft.

At EDA and T-Taiwan, seminars will be hosted by EDA tool companies and distributors including Ansoft, Avant, AMD, Cadence, Incentia Design Systems and Maojet Technology.

Saunderson said: "Almost 3000 designers and technical managers from Taiwan's design community attended last year's event".

"We expect record numbers to attend this year as Taiwan's engineers look to improve their skill sets and learn about the latest technologies and solutions".

In 2005, 70% of ESC-Taiwan and EDA and T-Taiwan delegates were design or development engineers and 15% were engineering managers.

In addition, most visitors played a strategic role in the decision-making process - 77% of visitors at ESC-Taiwan 2005 were already using embedded systems or planning to do so.

At EDA and T-Taiwan, 68% of visitors said they were planning to purchase EDA tools between this year and the next.

Event exhibition hours are 0930 to 1700.
