Survey shows microphone manufacturers in Greater China expect generally stable export prices for the next 12 months despite rising raw materials costs.

Microphone manufacturers in Greater China expect generally stable export prices for the next 12 months despite rising raw materials costs, according to Global Sources' China Sourcing Report: Microphones.

Global Sources' Publisher, Mark A Saunderson, said: "Microphone production is highly dependant on zinc and copper for raw materials, both of which have seen significant price increases in recent months".

"However, surveyed microphone manufacturers said they are willing to absorb these higher costs in order to expand their market share in the United States and Europe".

Most surveyed Taiwan manufacturers offer high-end microphones.

Among them: 72% plan to hold export prices; and 14% expect price increases of 20%.

Taiwan manufacturers anticipate export volume and sales increases of about 7% in the coming months as demand for wireless and digital microphones rises.

Most surveyed mainland China manufacturers focus on entry-level models.

Among them: 58% expect prices to increase 5 to 10%; and 23% expect prices to remain stable.

Mainland China respondents project exports will increase by 21% and sales by 28% as demand for low-price, quality export models continues to rise.

The 87-page China Sourcing Report: Microphones provides proprietary market information from in-person factory visits to 20 manufacturers and interviews with nine more suppliers.

The surveys, price trends and supply forecasts aim to help buyers make better-informed purchasing decisions.
