Swetman responsible for leading Emco in the UK

Richard Swetman's position as Director and General Manager of Global Display Solutions UK subsidiary Emco Electronics UK has been confirmed as part of the global restructuring of the group.

Richard Swetman's position as Director and General Manager of Global Display Solutions (GDS) UK subsidiary Emco Electronics UK has been confirmed as part of the global restructuring of the group under the GDS identity.

GDS is the newly formed company resulting from the recent merger between Emco Electronics (UK and USA) and Italian CA and G.

As Director and General Manager, Swetman is responsible for leading Emco in the UK.

GDS is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of industrial display solutions, and Swetman's part in this involves relocating and restructuring all UK based activities so as to grow the business in markets throughout Northern Europe.

After gaining a BSc in engineering at Nottingham University, Swetman worked in design and engineering management for British Aerospace and Boeing.

His interest in organisational performance and strategy led to an MBA at Cranfield in 1983 and, after a period leading plant modernisation projects in manufacturing industry, he developed his career in management consultancy including work for the Institute of Management as its representative in the North West.

Joining Emco 7 years ago to co-ordinate product development and corporate improvement projects gave Swetman the opportunity to develop his passion for best practice, a culture that he has now embedded in Emco's business planning processes.

Promotion to Director of Projects and Operations then gave him hands-on experience of managing logistics and supply chain issues in the electronics industry.
