This location was chosen for the economic benefits it offers GDS enabling it to develop a cost-effective and very competitive operation that will benefit all GDS customers long-term.

The new Romanian GDS Manufacturing Services site is for the production of subassemblies (electronic boards) and comprises three assembly lines - a surface mount technology line, a pin in hole line and an automated line for manual assembly with a wave solder.

The automated, technological production of the subassembly components remains in Italy with the manual assembly of the boards being transferred to this new site, so enabling GDS's customers to purchase high quality products at the lowest possible price.

Products manufactured at the site are initially being shipped to Europe but GDS expects that this will rapidly expand to GDS's global markets.

The new GDS plant employs 50 people and is contributing to the regeneration of the region.

The new facility also enjoys an excellent transport network at the heart of central Europe with good rail and motorway links, and the proximity of a fast developing international airport.

One of six free trading zones established by the Romanian Government, Arad Free Trade Enterprise Zone offers real opportunities for GDS to continue to grow its global business with incentives such as tax and customs exemptions.
