The MB87L2250 is a single-chip MPEG video and audio decoder which also includes a transport demultiplexer and 32bit RISC CPU.

A highly integrated and cost effective solution for set-top box applications, the MB87L2250 from Glyn is a single chip MPEG video and audio decoder which also includes a transport demultiplexer and 32bit RISC CPU.

The MPEG decoding and transport demultiplexing are implemented in the hardware while the on-chip CPU operating at 54MHz, is fully available for customer application software such as EPG functions.

Using a 2.5 frame architecture requiring only one 16Mbit SDRAM for MPEG decoding, OSD and section data buffering, the MB87L2250 provides advanced features including letterbox format conversion or teletext insertion into the VBI.

Supporting 32 PIDs, the device has a hardware filter for PID and sections an IR receiver, DVB descrambler and a memory save mode to reduce picture memory.

It also has an FR30/68k/SPARClite processor interface, two smart card interfaces, 16 programmable general purpose I/Os and automatic clock recovery.
