Designed to simplify development and significantly reduce time-to-market for embedded applications, Gothic Components is offering an easy-to-use starter kit for the Cardsystem-586.

Designed to simplify development and significantly reduce time-to-market for embedded applications, Gothic Components is offering an easy-to-use starter kit which comes fully programmed and configured for immediate use Based on Epson's Cardsystem-586 the new starter kit is a fully modular system consisting of a single-board computer featuring a Card-PC slot and built-in Card-586/16Mbyte running at 133MHz

The Card-586 itself offers a complete PC system, simply requiring the addition of a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The starter kit incorporates two PCMCIA slots and MS-Romdos 5.0 which is pre-installed into the Bios Flash of the Card-586 to start the PC within a minimum target circuit.

Also offered is a 68-pin PCMCIA SEATA ADB card, with software pre-installed, giving an interlink for easy data exchange through the serial cable with another PC.

A complete set of cables and manuals are also included.

This fully programmed system provides new Card-PC users with an 'easy-to-start' set-up tool.

After powering up, the system runs the Rom-adaptation kit allowing the user to modify the Card-586 BIOS.

The system starts up within 15 seconds and loads the PCMCIA-software, memory driver and the BIOS adaptation kit (RAKDA) for the Card-586.

To design the Card-PC target system for the 236-pin embedded all-in-one systems interface, the Cardsystem-586 helps modify the BIOS of the Card-PC according to the integration requirements and to test the application software.

The Card-PC can be pulled off and plugged into the customers target systems.

The Card-586 which comes with the starter kit implements a small ROMDOS operation system to start the PC within a minimum target circuit.

The system can also run any known PC operation systems, using the IDE-interface or the PCMCIA ATA interface for data storage.
