System gets to the seat of automotive testing

Tessy TSF 22 can be used to test all possible electronic car seat functions such as seat adjustment, heating, lumbar support, seatbelt buckle, temperature sensors, seat occupancy recognition and airbags.

In addition to the functional tests, verification tests can be executed.

This is an important factor, because during the tests component data from airbag etc are connected with seat data.

All data from these tests are stored in a database, and the entire test process is documented so that an aborted test or a complete retest are stored in the same way.

The functional tester for car seats features a compact and modular construction, decentralized placement of display and control units and easy integration into a production line, where final assembly of the seat and final testing by means of functional tests are executed at the same time.

The new system's basic principle is a PC based functional tester with USB as the system bus.

All the required elements of the system are located within the PC.

Standard modules, readily available on the open market, are used to create a cost-effective solution.

Supporting structures include a data recording card to capture all basic requirements for the test, a CAN communication card (PXI/PCI 3051) and serial interfaces to connect internal and external devices.

Within the system, a powerful test sequencer is in use running under LabView from National Instruments.

The sequencer software enables simple program creation, parameter administration as well as the generation of test protocols.

Tessy TSF 22 is an open system which provides space for future functions and expansion to enable additional tests with the same system.
