Automatic optical inspection (AOI) systems from Goepel Electronic guarantee higher fault coverage thanks to the development of a new camera module.

Automatic optical inspection (AOI) systems from Goepel Electronic guarantee higher fault coverage thanks to the development of a new camera module.

Continuing development towards the ideal AOI solution Goepel Electronic has come up with another ground-breaking feature: the OptiCon series of AOI platforms now offers a practical method of inspecting components on PCBs using an angled view thanks to a completely newly developed optics module.

The user can now inspect at a 45-degree angle from all four directions.

This exciting development is further enhanced with pioneering use telecentric imaging and high resolution.

The modular concept of the new AOI platform enables individual configuration of OptiCon systems as well as affording an upgrade path at a later point in time.

Typical applications for Quattro angled view are the evaluation of typically hard to see solder joints and components, eg at J-lead pins of PLCC and SOJ models or SMT connectors, but major gains will be in components of the next generation such as OFN components.

These technical innovations mean that Goepel Electronic's AOI systems provide extremely effective tools in the production process offering time and cost savings, as well as an increased quality all of which are cornerstones of competitiveness for assembly houses and all achievable with the new AOI family.
