Software explains boundary scan testing

Boundary Scan Coach software answers all questions and applications about boundary scan using a hands-on approach.

Goepel Electronic now provides improved free interactive learning software for all parties interested in the electronic testing of PCBs via boundary scan The Boundary Scan Coach software answers all questions and applications about boundary scan using a hands-on approach, ie the user is able to see the JTAG/boundary scan step for step operation simply without the need of a real board or additional hardware

"This learning software introduces the basics and principles of the most revolutionary test strategy for electronic assemblies", says Bettina Becker, Goepel Electronic's Manager for Marketing and International Sales.

"The user is now able to deal with the topic boundary scan practically and easily".

"This has been another important step towards the establishment of the innovative strategy for testing, programming and verification by means of JTAG on a hard fought market".

The Boundary Scan Coach was developed to answer fundamental questions about the boundary scan methodology.

Now it is possible to find out how a conducting path is controlled and measured through boundary scan or how a data register can be shifted.

Thereby, the user can select between virtual and real application since the software is additionally able to test a real board by means of boundary scan.

The Boundary Scan Coach is divided into two segments: in the first part the principles of JTAG/boundary scan are introduced in small segments.

In the second part the user can deal with the technology more intensively and specifically via "learning by doing".

The result of the various boundary scan operation modes are displayed graphically for easy visualisation.

In principle, the Boundary Scan Coach software does not require any hardware because it runs in a virtual mode.

It is possible though to connect and execute the software with an existing board (Boundary Scan Coach/EZScan) for better understanding.

The EZScan board was developed by Goepel Electronic for this reason.

Interested parties are welcome to download the Boundary Scan Coach software from Goepel Electronic's website. Request a free brochure from Goepel Electronic ...
