RTOS aims for MOST applications

Green Hills Software is to integrate and deliver MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) networking technology with in-car telematics reference platforms based on the Integrity RTOS.

Green Hills Software and Oasis SiliconSystems have formed a partnership that will enable Green Hills to integrate and deliver MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) networking technology with in-car telematics reference platforms based on the Integrity RTOS MOST is a multimedia fibre-optic network optimised for automotive applications

It defines the protocol, hardware and software layers necessary for very efficient, low-cost transport of control, real-time and packet data.

The combination of MOST and the Integrity RTOS gives automotive manufacturers the ability to rapidly prototype and develop a broad range of in-car telematics applications.

"Our in-car electronic system customers are focused on reducing their time to market and cost to deploy", said Herbert Hetzel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Oasis SiliconSystems and Administrator of MOST Co-operation.

"Green Hills Software's integration and support for our MOST offering is a key solution to meeting these challenges".

"The Oasis MOST technology is a welcome addition to our existing support for in-car infotainment solutions", said Dan Mender, Integrity's Director of Business Development.

"The seamless integration with our Integrity RTOS and associated reference hardware reduces both development and deployment costs associated with these cost-sensitive systems".

Integrity is a royalty-free RTOS optimised for applications that require high reliability, low cost, and real-time responsiveness.

Integrity takes advantage of a microprocessor's memory-protection facilities to build a firewall between the operating system and application tasks in order to prevent errant or malicious tasks from corrupting the system as a whole.

This makes Integrity ideal for open, distributed applications such as MOST-enabled automobiles.

Availability of MOST integrated with Integrity is expected in early 2004.

The integration will initially be available for the Total5200 telematics reference system from Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, which is based on the MPC5200 PowerPC processor. Request a free brochure from Green Hills Software ...
