Report reveals growing RTOS share
Green Hills Software had the highest market share growth of any RTOS supplier in 2004, according to a new research report from Venture Development Corporation (VDC).
Green Hills Software had the highest market share growth of any RTOS supplier in 2004, according to a new research report from Venture Development Corporation (VDC).
Green Hills Software has now led RTOS suppliers in market share growth for four straight years as reported by VDC.
In the study, "The embedded software strategic market intelligence program 2005, Volume I: Embedded and real-time operating systems", VDC reported that Green Hills Software's 2004 market share growth was 25% in the category "Embedded operating systems, bundled products, and related services".
This is nearly twice the growth reported for any other RTOS supplier.
"Green Hills Software's growth significantly outpaced the RTOS market in 2004", said Chris Lanfear, Practice Director Embedded Software at VDC and one of the report's authors.
"By generating momentum in key growth markets, including military/aerospace, telecom/datacom and automotive, Green Hills Software has established itself as an RTOS industry leader".
Green Hills Software's market share growth is reflected in the company's overall financial success.
In 2004, Green Hills Software's revenue grew by almost 40% to a record $71.6 million.
Earnings also grew to a record $17.2 million, an increase of 66% over 2003.
Last year was Green Hills Software's 22nd straight year of profitability - during which time the company has achieved a 30% average annual growth rate.
"After four straight years with the highest market share growth among RTOS suppliers, Green Hills Software has separated itself from the pack of smaller RTOS vendors and has emerged as the clear challenger for the RTOS market lead", said Dan O'Dowd, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Hills Software.
"At this rate of market share growth, Green Hills Software will be the RTOS market leader within three to four years".
