The GSA reports continued growth and progress for its successful New Ventures Programme following the second GSA NVP Workshop, staged in Paris in September.

GSA - the Global Mobile Suppliers Association - reports on continued growth and, in particular, progress for its successful New Ventures Programme (NVP), following the second GSA NVP Workshop, staged in Paris in September The NVP members identified and agreed a series of activities, designed to prepare the evolution of today's applications towards the future's more evolved networks - recognising that innovative services and applications hold the key to the success of the wireless information sector

GSA's rapidly evolving membership now comprises 70 companies actively working on programs globally, underlining the association's role as the voice of the GSM/3G supplier industry.

Commenting on the feedback from the NVP Workshop in Paris, GSA President Alan Hadden said: "NVP has struck a positive chord with the industry and commentators, providing an essential resource for companies looking to promote new ideas and concepts, supporting the evolution of the global mobile marketplace.

GSA recognises that these companies are the future lifeblood for 3G, bringing a new mix of innovation and services that will change the way we communicate and live our lives.

Many are building services today for GPRS.

We are encouraging the NVP member companies to set their own agenda, with GSA support and infrastructure - forging relationships, clarifying key requirements, gaining a voice to influence standards, and working jointly to create new market opportunities and accelerate time to market.

Since February 2001, nearly 40 companies have committed to the NVP programme.

This success will be maintained through results".

The next NVP Workshop will be held in Cannes prior to the 3GSM World Congress, taking place in February 2002.
