The chapter brings information and clarity on key industry issues at a time when GSM growth is accelerating in India towards an expected 100 million subscribers within 5 years.
Activities include information seminars, briefings for the media and other key industry players, and a monthly newsletter Global Mobile Dialogue, which highlights GSM developments from around the world and focuses on the issues which are critical for the Indian market.
Alan Hadden, President, GSA, said: "The GSA India Chapter is the source of reliable facts and information for assisting the development of the mobile market in India.
The chapter programme harnesses the shared experiences and expertise of leading global players including Alcatel, Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens, enabling effective dialogue with the key decision makers to ensure that India profits from the best possible contributions and solutions for the market place with GSM".
Rakesh Malik, Chairman of GSA India Chapter, added: "I am delighted to be the next Chairman of the GSA India Chapter.
The Chapter has now completed its first year and we hope to continue and deliver the good work started by my predecessors.
India has seen an unprecedented increase in teledensity having over 20 million GSM subscribers which further makes it essential to communicate the superior value that GSM technology delivers to all the stakeholders".
