WCDMA grows in popularity
The GSA has confirmed from its latest research that there are 75 WCDMA terminal models in the market or announced.
The GSA has confirmed from its latest research that there are 75 WCDMA terminal models in the market or announced WCDMA is specified by the ITU as a 3G/IMT-2000 standard which enables better use of available spectrum and more cost-effective network solutions for wideband digital radio communications of Internet, multimedia, video and other capacity-demanding applications for revenue growth
The association has also revealed that there are today over 8 million WCDMA subscribers enjoying the most advanced data services globally.
WCDMA is the world's leading standard for 3G services and builds naturally on existing investments in GSM.
The GSA additionally stated that there are 43 WCDMA networks in commercial service in 22 countries, with a further 10 networks at precommercial phase.
An increasing number of GSM operators will offer 3G services enabled by a combined WCDMA/Edge network.
