This year's IBC show was certainly the best yet for NTT Electronics (NEL) and its sales partner Hitachi High-Technologies It was the third year that the company had demonstrated its innovative products for SDTV and HDTV MPEG-2 Encoding solutions at IBC

It was supported by many of its customers launching new products based on NEL technology in a wide variety of applications, covering wireless cameras, microwave links and telecomms links.

There was huge interest in the HDTV solutions, NEL showed the new, world-leading Vasa LSI which provides a single-chip HDTV 4:2:2 encoding and decoding solution, and this was also integrated into the new SC10KE/SC10KD HDTV modules and the SC20KE that was being demonstrated at the show.

Visitors were particularly impressed by the quality of the displayed image and the high integration of the module which can act as a stand-alone HD encoding system ie HD-SDI (with embedded audio) in and DVB-ASI output.

Also exhibited was NEL's latest MPEG-over-IP two-board MP2000 solution, which enables the output of high quality, low delay MPEG-2 transport stream through Ethernet or broadcast TV.

The final demo was NEL's SDTV modules (SC2020E/SC2000D) which were running 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 video with an 84ms end to end delay.

"As well as being there to demonstrate our products we wanted to support our customers who were also exhibiting at the show and underline our commitment as a technology solutions provider to this important marketplace", explains Lorna Garrett, Business Development Manager for the MPEG products.

"This was our third year exhibiting at the show and we saw a substantial rise in the number of visitors who enquired at our stand".
