Harting has introduced a metal version of its Han Q8/0 connector, designed to provide enhanced interference protection for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in decentralised industrial drive installations.

The new connector, part of the company's Han Drive family, incorporates eight contacts, each capable of handling up to 16A at 500V.

As a result, it is ideally suited to interfacing auxiliary circuits for brakes and sensors as well as motor starters, convertors and power bus systems.

The connector housing is made of zinc, and includes double insulation so that ground pin and the screening are completely isolated.

The Han Q8/0 connector is compatible with the DESINA (distributed and standardised installation technology) concept, developed by the VDW (German Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers) and rapidly being adopted as an international standard for decentralised control in machinery and equipment.
