Harting has introduced a new range of rugged weatherproof IP67 RJ45 Ethernet connectors which are ideally suited to the requirements of outdoor terminals in wireless or broadband applications The new RJ45 Industrial connectors feature Harting's Harax rapid termination technology which offers fast deployment and easy installation of rugged shielded AWG 22-24 Ethernet cabling without the need for special tooling

The factory-sealed and tested units are 'plug and play' ready, and remove the need for gland installation with its potential for cable damage through twisting and bending.

The connectors are compliant with 8-wire copper, Category 5 (100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet) and Category 6 (Gigabit Ethernet) cabling, and future versions are planned for fibre-optic and standard ATM links.

A hybrid version is also available which mixes an 8-wire Cat 5/6 link with four additional power contacts.

Tactile and compact 'push/pull' mating minimises the panel fixing area and provides users with positive locking feedback.

The range includes plastic hoods and housings as well as metal versions for more rugged applications - all with latch-locked mating.

Optional 360deg EMC screening is available for high EMI/RFI scenarios, and IP68 solutions can be offered for the most extreme environmental conditions.

Harting's RJ45 Industrial connectors are complemented by a selection of outlet or wall boxes in plastic or metal finish, as well as switching boxes, plus a range of pre-made patch cables.
