Fibre connectors promise speedy mating
New connectors bring "plug and play" connectivity to fibre-optic communications within the industrial environment.
The new Push-Pull Fibre LC connector from Harting is the first fibre-optic connector within the company's RJ Industrial Push-Pull family, and brings "plug and play" connectivity to fibre-optic communications within the industrial environment The new connector, which integrates a standard LC fibre-optic connector into Harting's Push-Pull housing, is robust, vibration-resistant and environmentally protected to IP65/67, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial environments

Better EMC protection with connectors
This article by David Franklin illustrates the basics and the importance of shielding effectiveness in industrial connectors.
The Push-Pull Fibre LC device is particularly suited to applications where long transmission distances, high datarates or EMC problems make IP-protected multimode glass fibre the preferred solution to traditional copper cabling.
The new fibre-optic connector can be used in a variety of configurations, including panel feed-through applications.
Future developments include a POF (polymer optical fibre) version and the facility for direct coupling to electro-optical convertors such as SFF (small form factor) transceivers.
