The new 320 x 240 pixel 5.7in display features the latest enhancements in film STN technology to provide a high contrast "black on white" display image.

A wide temperature range liquid crystal fluid has been implemented to provide an operating temperature range of -20 to +70C.

Additionally, the SP14Q005 features a long life CFL backlight, providing a half-brightness lifetime of 50kh and an exceptional brightness of 220cd/m2.

The SP14Q005 provides a significant improvement in contrast and brightness performance yet still complements and offers full mechanical and electrical compatibility with Hitachi's existing monochrome quarter-VGA SP14Q00x family.

The module has been designed to provide a cost effective display solution for a wide range of applications.

These include EPOS, process control, instrumentation, information terminals and man-machine interfaces.

To assist engineers that are implementing complex man-machine interfaces, Hitachi has also developed the SP14Q005-ZZA, which features a four-wire analogue resistive touchscreen.

The new SP14Q005 and SP14Q005-ZZA display modules are now available in mass production quantities.
