A solution that integrates the Hitex Tanto on-chip debugger in the Keil uVision development environment provides enhanced debugging capability when developing and testing embedded applications.

Hitex and Keil have jointly developed a solution for integrating the Hitex Tanto on-chip debugger in the Keil uVision development environment to provide enhanced debugging capability when developing and testing embedded applications With this new debug environment it is now for the first time possible to record program processes (traces) during debugging under the uVison user interface

Users of ARM devices (eg STR7xx, LPC2xxx) can now search easier for errors in complex projects and reduce development times.

A particularly exceptional feature arising from the close integration of the Tanto system in uVision allows real-time trace recordings to be presented in graphical form.

Tanto also offers integral, fast and extremely easy-to-use Flash programming.

A highlight of the Tanto system is a special method for handling breakpoints to support a distinctive characteristic of the ARM command set.

ARM commands contain conditions which determine whether a command should actually have an effect after it has been read.

Conventional breakpoints stop the program if the command has only been read.

The special method used by Tanto to handle breakpoints automatically causes the program to continue running if the command does not have any effect.

This eliminates the need for the user to manually evaluate the status flag, thus simplifying debugging substantially.

Tanto systems can be connected via a USB or Ethernet interface.

The new development environment is now available through Hitex or Keil or their worldwide distribution partners.

Available until 31st December 2005 for an attractive introductory price, the systems can be purchased either as a complete package or as an expansion for uVision customers.
