Hitex has equipped its Tantino JTAG debugger with a time measurement function allowing to measure and analyse runtime behaviour of the application program Unlike conventional solutions, no additional tools such as an logic analyser are required for this feature

To support runtime analysis the Tantino has been extended.

The runtime measurement is implemented in the internal FPGA and the firmware includes the corresponding software functions for the calculation of the histogram data.

The time measurement itself uses a resolution of about 25ns.

This solution is fully integrated into the debug tool environment and can also be used within already existing Tantino systems.

Only a simple software update is necessary to integrate the functionality.

Together with a code instrumentation of the application program the analysis of any program sections is possible.

The runtime data is displayed as histogram data inside the debug application.

Beside this graphical view, which is permanently updated, the minimum, maximum, mean and the total number of values are displayed.

This easy-to-use function enhances the daily work of a software developer without learning a new environment or tool.
