Processor module operates at 150C

A Hitex Development Tools product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Mar 3, 2009

Hitex has developed a high-performance processor module that operates reliably at 150C, for customers that require serious computing power in a hot environment.

The aim of the project was to improve the performance of an electronic subsystem operating outside the usual temperature range.

The computing power stems from the Infineon Tricore TC1766 processor with integrated DSP, secondary core and a multitude of peripherals.

This device was integrated as a bare die on the ceramic carrier.

The ceramic carrier was chosen as a basis because of its excellent thermal transfer and high-density design possibilities.

Aerospace-rated oscillators and power supply components complete the specification.

The device is rated to 150C continuous running and was tested to 175C.

In addition to the high computing power, the device offers a variety of communication interfaces and for development purposes an optional fit JTAG connector for full in-circuit debugging.

Hitex was chosen as the partner for this project because of its microcontroller and special application experience.
