Hitaltech has developed a new range of terminal blocks and connectors that answer the demands of modern PCB processing techniques.

During recent years, the technology used for component mounting and soldering onto PCBs has been evolving towards automated systems, moving from traditional methods to surface mount technology Traditional components such as terminal blocks and connectors do not meet the requirements of robotic systems or the high temperature soldering processes, thus increasing production costs and the likelihood that mistakes will be made

Now Hitaltech has developed a new range of terminal blocks and connectors that answer these demands.

The STH range (for SMD through hole) of terminal blocks and connectors can be used with the latest SMT technology.

This reflow soldering technology presents only two processes compared with the traditional four.

First, the high precision SMD components can be positioned using robotic pick-and-place systems, therefore eliminating the need to manually position the components.

Then the assembly can be passed to the soldering oven with all the components already positioned, eliminating the need to manually or wave solder the components.

These STH terminal blocks and connectors are suitable to be soldered using reflow technology.

Hitaltech's range of high temperature terminals and connectors have been manufactured to ensure they can be used with surface mounting technology.

The plastic housing has been moulded using material that is stable at +260C, making them suitable to be soldered using reflow technology.

Unlike traditional SMD components, the pins of male connectors and terminal blocks are inserted into PCB metallised holes, filled with lead or lead free solder paste, they are then soldered using the reflow technology.

Using this technology, the entire PCB is exposed to a special thermo cycle that first enables, the casting of the soldering paste, then its solidification with a characteristic "reflow" that is visible on the solder beads, thus giving the name reflow soldering technology.

The pin insertion into the PCB holes gives the advantage of a high mechanical resistance, thus alleviating the stress on the solder beads.
