Hitachi has a new 5.7in quarter-VGA colour STN display module The SX14Q001 transmissive LCD module is capable of displaying up to 4096 colours and is designed to provide a cost-effective colour display solution for a wide range of applications

These include EPOS, process control, instrumentation, information terminals and man-machine interfaces.

The SX14Q001 complements and offers full mechanical compatibility with Hitachi's existing monochrome SP14Q00x family.

The new 320 x 240pixel display module features excellent colour saturation and a contrast ratio of 40:1.

The module also includes an integrated DC/DC convertor, which enables ease of use with a single 3.3V power supply.

The SX14Q001 features a long life CFL backlight, providing a half-brightness lifetime of 50,000 hours and a brightness of 150cd/m2.

Hitachi's extensive customer base for its industry standard monochrome SP14Q00x modules will be able to benefit from the mechanical compatibility of the new colour display.

The choice of colour or monochrome modules will allow designers to offer a more flexible and comprehensive product portfolio to their customers.

To assist engineers that are implementing complex man-machine interfaces, Hitachi has also developed the SX14Q001-ZZA, which features a four-wire analogue resistive touchscreen.
