Hitachi has a new 8Mbit low-power SRAM series designed for low-voltage industrial and consumer portable information terminals, such as communication, control and measurement products.

Hitachi has a new 8Mbit low-power SRAM series designed for low-voltage industrial and consumer portable information terminals, such as communication, control and measurement products The HM62V16512, HM62V16514 and HM62V8100 offer high-speed operation and feature a 6.5 x 9.8mm 48-pin CSP (chip scale package) that enables designers to create smaller and lighter products

A standard 44-pin TSOP-II (thin small outline package) is also available for compatibility with Hitachi's 4Mbit low-power SRAM.

Using a 0.18um CMOS process and employing special circuit design techniques, the new series offers high-speed operation at a low voltage.

The operating current of 30mA (maximum) at 55ns and the data retention current of 25uA (maximum) also enables data to be retained for long periods on battery backup in portable devices.

In addition to providing high-speed data read/write access time and low-voltage data retention, the high density low-power SRAMs also enable system design to be simplified as refresh operations are not necessary.

Accompanying its fast access time (55ns) and wide operating temperature range (-40 to +85C), the series includes different combinations of current grade (low-power L version or super-low-power SL version) and package (TSOP-II 44 or CSP 48) to meet a wide variety of needs from industrial to mobile consumer applications.

Sample shipments are available now and mass production is starting immediately.
