MCUs have a huge 32Kbyte of RAM on-chip
Hitachi Europe has announced the immediate availability of a new series of 16bit microcontrollers featuring 32Kbyte on-chip RAM - the first in the industry to do so.
Most integrated GSM RF transceiver so far
Hitachi has launched its most integrated GSM RF transceiver solution to date.
Hitachi has also launched the HM62V16100I and HM62V8200I series with 45ns access times.
The 2.2 to 3.6V HM62V16102I and 1.65 to 2.2V HM62A16102I series use the latest 0.13um process plus special circuit design techniques to achieve an access time of 25ns at low voltage.
This compares with previous 55ns SRAM products and enables the high-speed processing of photographic and other image data as well as moving-image transmission, as required by IMT-2000.
Both series support page read mode as well as standard SRAM read access.
A page size of eight words and fast access time of 15ns are also offered for the support of faster systems.
Both the 25ns series and the 2.7 to 3.6V HM62V16100I and HM62V8200I series employ a small 48-pin CSP (chip scale package) with a package size of just 8.0 x 9.5mm.
The pin arrangements are upward-compatible with Hitachi's 4 and 8Mbit models.
All four series feature a low operating current of 15mA (max) at 70ns and low data retention current of 0.5uA (typical)/5.0uA (max).
This enables a portable device to offer low current dissipation during operation and a long data retention period in battery backup mode.
The HM62V16102I and HM62A16102I series also include a 35ns access time model, and the HM62V16100I series offers a 0.5mm pitch 48-pin Type I TSOP version for industrial applications.
The word configuration in the HM62V8200I series is 2M x 8bit and 1M x 16bit in the other three series.
Sample shipments of all these products will begin in Japan on 28th February 2002.
