Hitachi will highlight its focus on the high growth industries of smart cards, automotive electronics, mobile communications, Flash microcontrollers and the digital home at this year's Electronica exhibition with a variety of on-stand demonstrations and displays Each of these will outline the company's continued investment in European manufacture and design, and confirm its position as a global leader in electronic components and services

Hitachi will show the industry's first open-architecture solution based on the SH-4 SuperH 32bit RISC microprocessor family and the HD64404 companion chip on a demonstrator board.

The companion chip combines the multiple functions that are required in highly integrated systems.

Demonstrations of CIS products from major OEMs on the market today will also be shown.

With the growing need for positive identification in applications ranging from remote access to Internet-based commerce, Hitachi will demonstrate a remote secure commerce and authentication system based around its 1024bit crypto coprocessor Smart Card IC for digital ID applications.

Using fingerprint recognition, PIN and digital certificates, the system operates on a PDA and brings together Bluetooth, GSM and mobile browsing to show the possibilities of remote commerce and authentication using Smart Cards.

Hitachi's new application processor, the SH-Mobile, along with its latest colour display technology for mobile handsets will be shown.

Also, as the leading supplier of GSM RF products, the company will present its total solutions for the handset market, from batteries to high power amplifiers.

Hitachi is the market leader for on-chip Flash microcontrollers and has recently launched its fourth generation of Flash technology in 0.18um.

The first 4G Flash derivative, the H8/3069F, which is a member of the H8/300H family, will be shown in detail, highlighting its high integration of 512Kbyte Flash memory, combined with built-in firmware, fast programming features and an extra 8KB user boot area.

A number of Hitachi's products and solutions for the digital home, from the connected kitchen to the living room and home office, will be demonstrated.
