The AE45X is Hitachi's latest dual interface device in the high security AE4 smart card microcontroller family.
The IC combines the security features of the ISO 7816 compliant AE4 products with the advantages of an additional ISO 14443 Type B or FeliCa contact-less interface.
At an operating frequency of 13.56MHz it provides a maximum data rate of 212Kbit/s.
The device has 128Kbyte ROM, 4Kbyte RAM, 36Kbyte EEPROM on-chip, and incorporates a modular multiplication crypto coprocessor and a hardware DES engine.
The demonstration will show applications running on the AE45X using both its contact and contact-less interface modes.
Hitachi's PIN Secure MultiMediaCard is a new type of secure card to protect personal and corporate data based on PKI by adding personal identification number (PIN) authentication functions to Secure MultiMediaCards.
Secure MultiMediaCard is a new product family that addresses the emerging market needs for secure data storage, user access and m-commerce on mobile handheld devices such as mobile phones and PDAs.
Application areas include data security and user access for government ID, medical, enterprise, and copyrighted content delivery.
Secret information can be distributed in a mobile environment with a combination of user authentication by PIN and card authentication by certificate.
