Commetrex' PowerRelay for T.38 is used by telecomms equipment OEMs to develop PSTN-IP gateways that offer robust fax-transport.
T.38 is the ITU recommendation for the real-time transport of Group 3 faxes over IP networks.
Gateways with T.38 convey fax-image data across the IP network without creating the discontinuities in the data and frequent failed sessions that result from packet loss when the fax transmission is conveyed using the gateway's voice facilities.
Commetrex maintains that the media-specific processing of T.38 is necessary in access gateways to avoid degrading the fax transmission.
Muhammad Helal, HelloSoft's Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, explains: "We are seeing a significant increase in demand for T.38 fax relay from our current and potential customers".
"Therefore, we decided to license Commetrex' industry-leading T.38 fax relay to include in our HelloVoice product suite".
"Commetrex' technology is interop-proven as a result of its four-plus-years of field experience and nearly three years as the reference standard in Commetrex' T.38 Interoperability Lab".
"We're very pleased with this collaboration between our companies because it increases the addressable market for our products", says Mohan Kinra, Commetrex' Director, Western Region Sales.
"HelloSoft is a leader in the VoIP space, and has one of the most comprehensive portfolios of supported processors in the industry".
