Complementing the existing members of its A/D range of microcontrollers, the Holtek HT46R24 is a one-time-programmable device, containing a wide range of additional features.

Complementing the existing members of its A/D range of microcontrollers, the Holtek HT46R24 is a one-time-programmable device, containing 8K x 16bit of program memory as well as a wide range of additional features.

In addition to encompassing the features of its already released sister devices in the A/D range, the HT46R24 offers the advantages of additional I/O pins, more PWM outputs, larger program and data memory capacities giving users even more choice and flexibility.

The HT46R24 comes with 8K x 16bit of OTP program memory as well as 384byte of data memory providing users with even more programming flexibility for larger or more complex application areas.

With its 40 I/O pins, the HT46R24 can be used in applications such as multiple-input/output control, for example external keyboard input control, direct LED driving or for controlling external power components such as SCRs, triacs or relays.

The eight-channel 10bit resolution A/D input can be used to directly measure and convert external analogue signals such as those from battery voltage detectors, current sensors, temperature, humidity and pressure sensors.

The four-channel 8bit high frequency PWM modulator can dynamically read the internal PWM registers and directly control the duty cycle of their corresponding output.

These PWM outputs can be connected to suitable external circuitry to control areas such as temperature, voltage and current as well as many others.

Serial communication for the HT46R24 is provided through an internal I2C bus interface allowing for extremely convenient and simplified onboard application communication.

An additional feature is the programmable frequency divider, which can generate extremely accurate frequencies on its external PFD pin, to drive application circuits requiring an accurate frequency source.

Directly driving an audio buzzer is a simple application for the PFD.

The internal low-voltage reset is used to detect the system voltage, which if it falls below a certain level, will generate a reset signal, preventing any software malfunctions that may occur due to unstable power supply conditions.

Packaged in both 48-pin SSOP and 28-pin SKDIP/SOP outlines, the new 8bit HT46R24 microcontroller is an industrial specification device.

Suitable for a wide range of both industrial and home appliance applications in areas such as switching power supplies, multifunction battery chargers, household appliances etc, this new device, with its many features and flexibility opens up many new application possibilities.

Complementing Holtek's range of MCU devices is a comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools in the form of the HT-IDE3000 development system.

Features such as real time emulation, memory/register modification, hardware execution breakpoints, trace analysers etc, are all standard features of the system, all of which add together to provide designers with all the tools they need for rapid and efficient product application development and debug.
