The Coiltronics Versa-Pac range of transformers and inductors, now available in the UK from Hunter Electronic Components, is supported by a web-based selection guide produced by Coiltronics' parent company, Cooper Electronic Technologies.

The selection guide helps design engineers save both time and money by making it quick and easy to select the proper transformer or inductor.

The guide is accessed via the Coiltronics page on www.cooperET.com, and is downloadable as an Excel file.

Versa-Pac transformers and inductors are ideal for any DC/DC conversion or switch-mode power-supply applications where high-frequency magnetic components are required.

By inputting a few key parameters, engineers can quickly locate the required device for their application.

The Versa-Pac products have six identical windings, and come in five sizes, each with ten different winding inductance values.

Using PCB trace, the windings can be configured for the required turns ratio, inductance and current rating.

Through the use of a technique known as pin configurable magnetics (PCM), the Versa-Pac family offers exceptional flexibility, with more than 1000 usable transformer or inductor configurations from only 50 off-the-shelf devices.

Available from 1 to 70W power output and with a frequency range to over 1MHz, these surface-mount devices can be supplied in either tape-and-reel or bulk packaging.

The tightly coupled windings give low leakage inductance and low radiated noise.
