Hunter Electronic Components is offering a short-lead-time alternative for discrete power devices in the MELF (SOD87) package currently in short supply worldwide.

Hunter Electronic Components is offering a short-lead-time alternative for discrete power devices in the MELF (SOD87) package currently in short supply worldwide following the Christmas Day fire in the Philips manufacturing plant which has halted production for several months.

As UK distributor for Taiwan Semiconductor, Hunter can offer a wide range of power devices in the SMA package, which can be used as a direct replacement for most SOD87 devices on the same solder pads.

Devices for which there are direct SMA equivalents include the BZD and BYD families of power diodes and controlled avalanche rectifiers.

In most cases, the power dissipation capability of the SMA package is 0.2W higher than the SOD87 equivalent.
