The new BCL series connector system from Honda makes the small size, high integration and robustness of a PDA I/O connector available for a wide range of handheld applications.

Developed for palmtop applications, the Honda BCL-series includes all connectors for a handheld system, with body and cradle connectors, and a cable connector plus backshell.

Applications include portable data loggers, GPS receivers, portable POS terminals, and any equipment that needs to be periodically connected to a host PC for synchronisation or data download, or to peripherals such as a portable keyboard, barcode reader or dedicated modem.

The cable connector accepts cables up to 5.4mm outside diameter.

The male connector is drip-proof and has rubber packing for shock resistance and sealing.

The position of the polarising key can be changed to suit product requirements.

Power contacts are sequenced for first-mate/last-blank.

Lifetime is 10,000 mating cycles, making durability another key attribute.

There are 18 contacts, including 2.8A-rated power terminals and 16 signal contacts, suitable for portable instruments requiring data communication and battery recharging functions.

The wide operating temperature range, from -20 to +80C allows the BCL-series to function in a wide range of environments, including retail, utility meter reading, healthcare, law enforcement or other urban applications, as well as remote uses such as geographical data logging.

The dielectric withstand voltage is 500V AC (RMS) for 1min, with 500Mohm insulation resistance.
