Optical distribution frame controls fibre bends
LISA is a new optical distribution frame designed specifically to handle systems working at 1625nm in the X band.
The interface is based on the SMA dimension and features a new snap-lock mechanism which makes it very fast and easy to mate and demate, yet requiring a very low mating force.
The interface retention force is better than 60N.
The snap-on mating mechanism of the new QMA connector makes it up to 10 times faster to mate and demate than standard SMA connectors, while delivering similar performance, but with much reduced cost of ownership.
Instead of a threaded coupling mechanism, the new snap-lock mechanism also offers reduced pitch between connectors as no torque wrench clearance is required.
Therefore on highly populated boards or panels significant assembly cost savings can be achieved.
The QMA connector can be rotated 360 degrees in mated position, improving cable flexibility and also features self-alignment capability during interface mating.
The connector features a low return loss (32dB from DC to 3GHz and 25dB from 3 to 6GHz), an impedance of 50ohm and is suitable for operation between DC and 6GHz.
