Speedy secure mating for novel N-types
The QN Quick Lock N connector from Huber+Suhner is a fast and secure quick lock coupling that requires only a very low mating force.
Radox Railcat is designed to deliver high-speed network applications including: infotainment/multimedia, passenger information systems, cellular distribution, Wi-Fi distribution/Internet connectivity and CCTV for video surveillance.
In addition, it has been engineered to handle future applications.
Harry Magnay, Marketing Director at Huber+Suhner(UK), says: "We are the only company in the world approved to manufacture this new Radox Railcat cable".
"We have spent two years developing it to meet and exceed the stringent standards required".
Until now, Huber+Suhner has been using its own coax cable onboard trains, which doesn't deliver the required future of modern entertainment systems.
Radox Railcat cable has been specifically designed to work seamlessly with the onboard antennas and servers to deliver maximised infotainment for rail passengers.
It links with Huber+Suhner's Sencity Rail antenna family for an integrated high speed solution.
"There is tremendous interest in integrated onboard high speed data systems from the rail operators, fuelled by fixed broadband access and Wi-Fi connectivity available in many places such as hotels, airports, public building and coffee shops".
"Currently, the operators are planning to implement triple-play systems that integrate video, voice and data".
"Later it will become a quad system by adding broadcasting to the mix, and Radox Railcat is ready to deliver all four", adds Magnay.
The new cable is specifically designed for Cat5E (100baseT) applications in the railway industry and includes extra safety features such as fire performance standards DIN5510-2 and BS6853.
It uses the proven Radox insulation system, has a wide operating temperature from -40 to +90C, is halogen free and produces low spoke/low toxicity.
In addition, the company is working with rail operators to deliver a new application for high security chip and pin authentication over the Wi-Fi broadband system, which will be used by the onboard restaurant car and ticket collectors.
