Huntsman Corp has expanded production capacity for its printed circuit board materials by investing in new production facilities at its site in Panyu, China.

To meet growing customer demand, Huntsman Corp has expanded production capacity for its printed circuit board materials by investing in new production facilities at its site in Panyu, China Sited in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong, Panyu is strategically located for fast, flexible deliveries to customers in Asia Pacific and worldwide

This recent investment will deliver three key benefits for customers: a significant increase of worldwide production capacity; a strong technical base in Asia; and direct support for European and American customers moving into Asia.

The Panyu site will also free-up additional capacity at the Huntsman Advanced Materials site in Monthey, Switzerland.

Monthey is the largest production site of Huntsman Advanced Materials with an annual output of more than 100,000 tonnes of resin.

In the future, parts of the Monthey production will be dedicated to Probimer 65 solder mask systems and Probimage liquid etch resists.

Panyu will complement the Monthey site by focusing on the production of Probimer 77 solder mask systems.

This new co-ordinated production set up at Panyu and Monthey has been made possible thanks to a global approach: A universal pcb product range is manufactured at both sites according to the same set of in-house technical quality standards, such as quality control under real production conditions.

Peter Littlewood, Global Vice President Power and Electronics says: "The PCB market is a core strategic market for Huntsman and the investment we recently made to expand our capabilities in China proves this commitment".

"It will strengthen our position not only in the Asian Pacific region but also in Europe and the US through an optimised and more cost effective production facility in Switzerland".

Already a leading supplier to the printed circuit board industry, Huntsman's electronics business will continue to grow its activities worldwide, focusing on high-end system solutions in automotive, telecom, lighting and general industry.

Markus Fischer, Global Technology Director Power and Electronics, says: "Recent product developments, such as the new Probimer 65 solder mask systems for high temperature requirements in automotive applications - the only solder mask in the market that fulfils and exceeds the stringent OEM requirements of the automotive industry - have proved that we have the right people, knowledge and technical facilities to respond fast to market requirements".
